To provide opportunities to learn all aspects of film making (including animation) as well as the facilities to make one or more short films. Not only does Film School give young people the chance to learn new skills and develop existing ones, it also teaches discipline, budgeting, teamwork and aids self-confidence. Participants are asked to provide storyboards/proposals for a film either with a given topic or a chosen one. They are then coached in the making of that film and get the chance to participate in films being made by others. As well as using the skills they already have participants are expected to learn all aspects of film making i.e. acting, directing, editing etc. There is always a final showcase where the films are shown and friends and family can be invited. Often these films are entered into the Young Film Maker of Mann competition. For participants entirely new to film making they learn basic techniques and are helped to develop their new skills.
